Where My Girls At?(Who Love Hip Hop)

My Girls Are Better Than Yours

They understand me. My girls know I’m a loner, so they give me my space. They aren’t offended if I don’t want to hang out on the weekends. In fact, they normally won’t bother to invite me unless it’s a special occasion. And that’s fine with me.

My girls know I love them. Not because we see each other all the time, but because I’m available when they need me. Whether it’s a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on or a few bucks when things are tight, I’m there. They would do the same for me.

But I’m still alone

My girls are the shit, but they really aren’t into hip hop. At least not like me. As a young adult I often found myself riding solo or hanging with the guys because my closest girlfriends didn’t share my interests. Nothing much has changed.

My girls like rap, but they tend to gravitate towards radio friendly music. If it has a catchy hook and a beat you can shake your ass to, they’ll slap it. But they don’t BUY hip hop music. And they rarely attend hip hop shows.

They aren’t interested in listening and dissecting rap lyrics. Metaphors and double entendres go right over their heads. And it’s not because my girls aren’t intelligent.

I don’t hang with dumb females. They just don’t have an ear for hip hop. And It’s OK because I love them for who they are. But there are times when I wish I had at least one female in my circle who loved hip hop as much as I.

It would be awesome to discuss the state of hip hop with a female who is actually part of the culture.  I want to debate with other women about who’s the best MC.  Or meet a woman like myself who has a rap lyric for any given situation.

It’s hard finding females who love hip hop but aren’t rappers.  I’m special, but I’m no unicorn.  I know there are others out there like me.  So for all my grown ass hip hop loving females WHERE YA’LL AT?
