Murs & 9th Wonder

Having a blog has required me to really step my game up when it comes to hip hop. I’ve also had to spend a lot of time looking for good music outside of the MCs that I already follow. So I’m not going to even pretend to know anything about Murs.

I was introduced to him just a few days ago while I was going through my Youtube feed. Since then I learned that the West Coast MC has been part of a group called Felt for over a decade. And in 2004 he released Murs 3:16: The 9th edition, an album entirely produced by 9th Wonder.

He released his second 9th Wonder collaboration Murrays Revenge in 2006. He signed to Strange Music in 2014 and released Brighter Days, another 9th Wonder collaboration the following year. So when I stumbled upon this video I thought to myself “you really need to share this with your readers”.

I’m trying to build a community here. One for people who love hip hop as much as I do. A community where we can be entertained and educated at the same time. Most importantly, a community where we make discoveries together. I hope ya’ll are down for the journey.

So here it is. God Black/Black God from his new album The Iliad is Dead & The Odyssey Is Over . And of course it’s produced by none other than 9th Wonder. I cant believe I haven’t been up on him.

Have any of you followed Murs’ career? What do you think about this track? Who are some other artists you would like to see featured on Rapmajor?

Also, check out the mini movie that goes with the new album:
